The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, in consultation with Innlandet and Viken County Councils, has decided to close a total of 14 wooden truss bridges following the bridge collapse at Tretten. Evenstad bridge is among the five truss bridges in Innlandet County that are now being temporarily closed pending the clarification as to what caused the collapse.

The bridge, which is located a short distance from Evenstad, will close for car traffic on Wednesday 17 August. It will be closed for traffic indefinitely but will still be open to pedestrians and cyclists.

It is still possible to get to Evenstad by car, but one must use alternative routes. If you drive from the north on RV3, you must take the exit at Stai and drive east from there. If you drive from the south on RV3, you must take the exit at Opphus and drive east from there.
