Department of Art and Cultural Studies

The Department of Arts and Culture Studies, located at Hamar campus, provides teaching resources for teacher education in music, kindergarten and primary and lower secondary teacher education, 1-year programmes in educational theory and practice, the 1-year programme in music and the Master in didactics of cultural and language subjects. 

In addition, the academic music community provides courses and supervision on the PhD in Teaching and Teacher Education

The academic music community is involved in extensive research, publishing and dissemination activities and has a research group called Culturally Oriented Music Pedagogics. 

The department consists of 23 employees (19 man-years) and around 25 part-time lecturers, divided into three subject areas: 17 employees in music, 4 in drama and 2 in design. 

The department has 5 professors/docent professors, 7 in other senior positions, 8 university lecturers and 3 doctoral research fellows.
