"It is with great sorrow we have received the news of his passing. Gudbrand was a dedicated and highly skilled colleague who meant a lot to many. There will be a great void left by him at the Department of Economics, within the faculty, and the university," says Dean Marit Roland of the Inland School of Business and Social Sciences.

Gudbrand Lien has been employed at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences since 2008. He has also worked at the Eastern Norway Research Institute. He has published more than 100 articles in highly-ranked international journals and was a co-author of several textbooks.

Lien had a broad network both in Norway and internationally, and closely collaborated with numerous international researchers. He was a member of the editorial board for several international journals.

The Department of Economics cancels all classes on Monday, March 4th. Students will be notified through the learning platform Canvas.

At the campuses in Lillehammer and Rena, a memorial protocol will be available on Monday, and employees who wish to do so are welcome to come together, process the loss of a beloved colleague, and sign the protocol.
