Attendance/absence regulations for representatives

Rules for approved absence regarding student representatives

As a class representative, you are obligated to participate on all programme of study committee meetings convened by the programme of study coordinator, usually one to two per semester. You are also obligated to participate on all student council meetings organised by StInn.

As a representative at faculty level and on councils, committees and boards, you are obligated to participate in all convened meetings, usually two or three per semester.

If, as a representative, you are unable to participate in meetings, you must notify the person who has called the meeting as soon as possible. In addition, you must ask your deputy to take your place.

Approved absence is:

  • illness
  • sick child/children
  • examinations
  • other compelling reasons

Ordinary teaching is not normally regarded as approved absence from representative obligations. If a scheduled meeting collides with teaching duties, it is recommended that you contact the person who has called the meeting in order to change the time of the meeting if possible.

Student representatives must have participated in at least 75 percent of the meetings held. Similar rules apply to deputies: one must have participated in at least 75 percent of the meetings one has been summoned to.

Absence from supervised professional training due to representative obligations

Students who are carrying out supervised professional training may be summoned to meetings involving programme of study committees, councils/committees at faculty level, or central councils and committees. If compulsory attendance at meetings coincides with supervised professional training, representative obligations - i.e. attendance at meetings involving programmes of study committees or other councils and committees - are regarded as approved absence from supervised professional training.
