Welcome to the 2024 ASANOR biannual conference, a collaboration between INN, ASANOR and The Norwegian Emigrant Museum.

We are very happy to welcome you to Hamar and Ottestad, for this conference in the run-up to the Crossings, the 200-year anniversary commemoration of the first organized emigration from Norway to North America.

Conference fee

NOK 1750 incl. reception Thursday, coffee and lunch Friday and Saturday, banquet dinner on Friday, entrance to and tour of the Norwegian Emigrant Museum, bus travel between Ottestad and Hamar, and entrance to and tour of the Kirsten Flagstad Museum.

Accommodation options:

There are several hotels to choose from in Hamar in easy walking distance from the university campus:

  • Clarion Astoria
    There are 20 rooms held for conference participants at the Clarion Astoria. These will be available for NOK 1390 per single room or NOK 1590 per double room by calling  +47 62 70 70 00 or email to cc.astoria@strawberry.no using the code "Konferanse HINN" by Sept 3rd. After Sept 3rd normal prices will apply. The Astoria offers breakfast, afternoon coffee and an evening meal as part of the price package, and is a 5 minute walk from the INN campus.

    This hotel and hostel is located approximately a 20 minute walk from INN’s campus, but is reasonably priced.

Getting to and from Hamar:

Trains from to and from Oslo and the Oslo Gardermoen airport run every hour, and the train ride from Oslo is 1 hour 10 minutes, and from the airport approximately 40 minutes.
