Panel discussion about Linguistic Diversity

The 15th of May the project The Perceiving Voice and Speaker, funded by the Research Council of Norway, is organizing an open panel discussion about Linguistic Diversity.

Humans use various languages and diverse ways of communication. Linguistic diversity is a basic feature of many societies.

Program

In this panel we will discuss what linguistic diversity is, what forms it takes, how it is investigated, and what societal challenges it gives rise to.

The panelists are:

  • Yael Peled (Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences) 
  • Unn Røyneland (University of Oslo) 
  • Guri Bordal Steien (Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences) 
  • Louisa Willoughby (Monash University) 

Practical information

This event is open to all audiences. The panel discussion will be in English. We also plan to provide written materials in English and Norwegian. 

Coffee & tea will be served from 13.45.
