  In this paper, we investigate the problem of dynamic electricity price forecasting in five deregulated electricity markets (Nord Pool, PJM, EPEX-BE, EPEX-FR, EPEX-DE). We propose an electricity price forecasting model, which captures the uncertainties of exogenous variables (e.g. load demand, generated power, etc.), and forecasts the time-ahead dynamic electricity prices. We use deep neural networks (DNN), assisted by dropouts, to formulate the model. We compare the performance with DNN-based models from the literature and a benchmark regression model. To improve the performance, we experimented with dropouts in the hidden layers. The results show that the proposed model is low-complex, reproducible, performs at par with competing DNN-based methods, and outperforms the benchmark model across the five electricity markets.

  In this study, two teachers in a Norwegian school participated to provide their perspectives on the three-day workshop conducted for Grade 6 students about human-robot interaction (HRI) for learning. The workshop was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers who observed students’ behavior during the HRI workshop were interviewed to understand their attitudes towards the use of social robots in educational settings and their perceptions about how the students experienced this. A semi-structured interview was conducted to explore the attitudes and perceptions of the teachers. After performing thematic analysis of the interview data, the study concludes that the robotics learning setup might not be suitable for all subjects. For example, our data analysis reveals that the use of social robots is more suited to Programming, but it is not so well suited for Mathematics; The teachers perceived that the students were happy about their session with social robots, but teachers were concerned that their excitement may fade away with time. In addition, there were concerns over the practicalities of having social robots in class.

  Humanoid robots can help improve the spatial programming skills of children by making abstract concepts playful, tangible, concrete, and thereby understandable. However, active and critical engagement with robots creates its own challenges, originating from participants or robots. In this study, we explored to what extent programming a humanoid robot is engaging when the robot helps visualize the coding, instructions, and outcome of the process. The results of the study showed that a teaching session before the experiment was helpful, even though participants had previous experience programming with robots. The participants found programming the robot more enjoyable when compared to programming on a PC. They believed that robots could be useful as learning companions under the guidance of a regular teacher to improve their programming skills.

  A meticulous examination of SQL queries plays a pivotal role in the process of learning SQL. It is important to understand the procedures utilized by students in SQL query formulation, but there has been insufficient attention given to this direction in recent literature. Therefore, we aim to explore the nature of different approaches of students in understanding SQL questions, along with the given relations to formulate correct SQL queries. We conducted an eye-tracking study with 27 university students to investigate differences in strategies through the difficulty levels of tasks. Overall, we found that differences in the strategies of students have an effect on formulating correct SQL queries. Students who successfully completed the tasks spent more time and had a higher fixation count in all areas of interest, including the question, table, and solution. Moreover, these students took longer in each area of interest to complete the query validation process as the tasks increased in difficulty. The heatmap data revealed that the students who failed the tasks did not follow the same reading order as those who succeeded. The successful students read the SQL from the first line to the last, whereas the unsuccessful students did not adhere to this sequential approach.

  With the ongoing digital revolution and the ever-increasing develop-ment of new technology, schools must provide students with a grounding in cer-tain technical skills, such as computational thinking, which are likely to be re-quired for future roles, including working with and operating robots. For such robot human interaction to be successful, introduction of robots into school learn-ing environments is crucial. However, we also need to better understand the learning processes involved in this human robot interaction. Acknowledging the importance of metacognitive processes as an essential aspect in achieving learn-ing outcomes in educational contexts, this article investigates the experiences of students in human-robotic interactions and related tasks (programming and math) by exploring the student´s self-assessment of perceived performance (JOP), mo-tivation (fun and difficulty) and learning. This aim has been achieved through a pilot study whereby the authors conducted a three-day workshop with grade 6 students and collected pre and post survey data. The findings contribute knowledge to our understanding of the importance of metacognition and in par-ticular accurate self-assessment as crucial for both motivation and learning with humanoid robots.

  This study provides empirical evidence to the body of knowledge in Agile methods adoption in small, medium and large organizations in international context. This research explores the factors involved in the adoption of Agile methods in software development organizations. A survey was conducted among Agile professionals to gather survey data from 52 software organizations in seven countries across the world. Statistical techniques are applied towards empirical assessment. Organizational culture, team structure and management support are found to be crucial success factors whereas lack of management support, a large organization size and traditional organizational culture are found to be detrimental for the adoption of Agile approach in an organization. The selection of an appropriate Agile method depends on the project size and, for each size, there are specific methods preferred by different enterprises. Providing better control over the work is viewed as the primary advantage of the Agile methods within large and small organizations, while for the medium-size organizations, the priority is switched to coping with changing user requirements. Majority of the respondents did not consider embracing agile methods as a reason for project failure which indicates that Agile methods are, indeed, beneficial.

  Climate change risk and environmental degradation are the most critical issues of our society. Our technology-influenced daily lifestyle involves many types of software and apps which are used by society at large, and their use is increasing more than ever before. Sustainability is a significant topic for future professionals and more so for software engineers due to its impact on society. It is crucial to motivate and raise concern among students and faculty members regarding sustainability by including it in the Software Engineering (SE) curriculum. This chapter discusses how sustainability can be included in various courses of the SE curriculum by considering ACM/IEEE curriculum guidelines for the SE curriculum, literature review, and various viewpoints so that SE students can attain knowledge on sustainable software engineering. It also includes an assessment of key competences in sustainability for proposed units in the SE curriculum.

  Background: Presently, sustainability is a crucial issue for human beings due to many disasters owing to climate change. Information Technology (IT) is now part of everyday life in society due to the proliferation of gadgets such as mobile phones, apps, computers, information systems, web-based systems, etc. (2) Methods: The analysis is based on recent ACM/IEEE curriculum guidelines for IT, a rigorous literature review as well as various viewpoints and their relevance for sustainability-oriented curriculum development; it also includes an assessment of key competencies in sustainability for proposed units in the IT curriculum. (3) Results: Sustainability is a critical subject for prospective IT professionals. Therefore, it is imperative to motivate and raise awareness among students and the faculty community regarding sustainability through its inclusion in the Informatics curriculum. This paper focuses on how sustainability can be included in various courses of the Informatics curriculum. It also considers recent ACM/IEEE curriculum guidelines for IT professionals, which assert that IT students should explore IT strategies required for developing a culture of green and sustainable IT. (4) Conclusions: This paper provides guidelines for IT curriculum development by incorporating sustainable elements in courses, so that future IT professionals can learn and practice sustainability in order to develop a sustainable society.   Children spend numerous hours on the Internet daily. While online, they meet a great number of opportunities as well as risks. Of these risks, cyber bullying and privacy violations are of major concern, in addition to exploitation and child pornography. Our hypothesis is that the solution is not to keep children and teens away from the Internet, but to ensure that young citizens are empowered with the necessary knowledge and skill set to become critical consumers and creators of new secure and sustainable digital services and products. Our objective is to develop a knowledge and skill set base and offer learning through playful solutions for empowering children and young people with creative and critical digital skills, in an engaging and motivating way. The aim is to build on the method and lessons learns of Kodeløypa, one of the scientific offerings for children at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and the related scientific efforts made to empower a new generation of online users to avoid risks in the modern digital society. The project, SikkerhetsLøypa, is highly inter-disciplinary and spans across the fields of information security, user experience, software engineering, and computer science education. The scientific results of this project aims at strengthen education methods and practices in secure and privacy-aware behavior in the digital world.

  With the ongoing digital revolution and the ever-increasing develop-ment of new technology, schools must provide students with a grounding in cer-tain technical skills, such as computational thinking, which are likely to be re-quired for future roles, including working with and operating robots. For such robot human interaction to be successful, introduction of robots into school learn-ing environments is crucial. However, we also need to better understand the learning processes involved in this human robot interaction. Acknowledging the importance of metacognitive processes as an essential aspect in achieving learn-ing outcomes in educational contexts, this article investigates the experiences of students in human-robotic interactions and related tasks (programming and math) by exploring the student´s self-assessment of perceived performance (JOP), mo-tivation (fun and difficulty) and learning. This aim has been achieved through a pilot study whereby the authors conducted a three-day workshop with grade 6 students and collected pre and post survey data. The findings contribute knowledge to our understanding of the importance of metacognition and in par-ticular accurate self-assessment as crucial for both motivation and learning with humanoid robots.

  The ‘Smart Grid’ describes a next-generation electrical power system which brings multiple benefits from the increased use of information and communication technology but at the same time escalate security risks. Security experts recommend using standardized solutions to alleviate such security risks. This report aims to explore the cyber security requirements as prescribed in various standards from process, personnel, technical and operational perspectives for selected smart grid components, i.e., SCADA and substation. Another goal is to facilitate Statnett to identify potential gaps by considering cyber security requirements described in this report and the current state of practice. Since the set of requirements relevant for an organization depends on the context and their needs therefore this list should be taken as a recommendation.
