Marita Buanes Djupvik

Short description

Marita Buanes Djupvik is associative professor at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. She teaches music pedagogy, popular music history and music analysis. She holds a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Agder, Kristiansand, where she explored represenations of black masculinity in mainstream hip-hop videos. She has published in international peer reviewed journals and has also contributed to the edited book "The Routledge Companion to Popular Music and Gender". Her research interests are gender and popular music, audiovisual analysis, performance analyses, music and identity, children's musical cultures and music education.
