Pamela Joanne Helder Naylor

Short description

Pamela Joanne Helder Naylor is a Phd student in the faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy, with a primary interest in working with primary school teachers towards engaging their students in mathematical learning through inquiry-based learning experiences.

She holds Masters Degrees from US universities in mathematics special education (MEd) and clinical social work (MSW), with special certification in gifted education and mathematics leadership. She taught upper primary school in the US and Norway for over 20 years, focusing on cross-curriculur inquiry based learning.  Her specialization is in the use of mathematical modelling with primary school students.

Her current research seeks to inform policy makers about the state of implementation of mathematical modelling in Norwegian primary schools and explore the mathematical modelling professional development experiences of practicing primary school teachers in Norway.
