Technical Requirements
Functioning computer and approved browser
- You're required to bring your own laptop (PC or Mac) along with its charger to the digital school exam. Chromebooks, tablets, or iPads are not permitted. Information about the computer's system requirements.
- Before the exam, make sure to update your computer's operating system to prevent any interruptions during the exam.
- Inspera requires access to a browser. Supported browsers include the latest two versions of Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari. If you encounter issues with Safari on Mac, consider using Google Chrome.
- Borrowing a computer from the university is generally not possible, emergency reserve PCs are available on the exam day.
To install the latest version of the Safe Exam Browser
- Along with meeting system requirements, you'll need to install Safe Exam Browser (SEB) on your computer. SEB blocks access to unauthorized websites and other programs/files during exams.
- Remember to update SEB before each exam period, following the same installation process.
- If using a "work" PC, it's best to install SEB with your workplace's IT department.
- You can install SEB by completing a demo test in Inspera.
Internet
- Test your connection to the university's wireless network (eduroam), especially if you're using a "work" PC from another company or agency.
- If the exam is at an external location, use the venue's wireless network. Instructions for logging in will be provided in the exam room.
Username and Password
- As a student, you log in to Inspera using your FEIDE account. Therefore, it's wise to check that your FEIDE account is working before the exam. This can be tested by logging into Inspera or Canvas. Having trouble with your password? Create a new one on the Self-Service Portal (link).
- External candidates (private candidates) typically receive their username and password in the examination room to log in to Inspera.
Get to Know Inspera
We recommend that you complete a demo test before the exam to test your computer and become familiar with Inspera. By taking the demo test, you can also install the required software, Safe Exam Browser.
Here's how to conduct a demo test in Inspera
- Log in to Inspera.
- Go to "Demo Tests," find "Demo School Exam with SEB," and click "Click here to get ready".
- If you haven't installed Safe Exam Browser, select "Download" at the bottom of the page and install the correct SEB for your operating system.
- Click "Start test in Safe Exam Browser" and enter the following password: INN123
- Open the demo test by clicking "Start the test."
- Complete the demo test. Note: Spell check and drawing tools may be disabled during the exam in some subjects.
- Go to the submission page and click "Submit now."
- Choose "Exit Safe Exam Browser" once your answer has been submitted.
- Remember that you can conduct the demo test as many times as you like
Hand Drawings
In some digital school exams, you have the opportunity to draw on your own sketch sheets. These sheets will be uploaded after the exam and will be accessible in your exam answer in Inspera. To avoid errors and unnecessary loss of time, it's important that you as a student familiarize yourself with the instructions for hand drawings.

Lovdata Pro
In certain digital school exams, Lovdata Pro will be accessible within Inspera. Lovdata Pro will be in exam mode, meaning there may be limitations on annotations, selections, and legal sources.
To view what you can access in Lovdata Pro for a digital school exam, log in to Lovdata Pro, go to "Settings," select the relevant exam under "Examination Regulations," activate "Exam Mode," and then visit the homepage. Keep in mind that some study programs may have additional regulations regarding incorporations/references beyond what Lovdata Pro specifies.
A separate demo test is available to demonstrate how a school exam with SEB and Lovdata Pro as digital aids might appear. You can find this demo test under "Demo Tests" in Inspera and take it as many times as you'd like.
