All INN University students travelling on exchange/part-time studies/short travels abroad with their study programme, need to familiarize themselves with INN University's advice for safety abroad.
Familiarize yourself with Sikresiden (external link) and save it on your phone before departing from Norway.
The guidelines are also recommended for students travelling abroad on private stays, which falls outside of INN University’s responsibility.
The student’s responsibility
- Declaration of Personal Information: All students travelling on exchange must complete the form for Declaration of Personal Information online before departure. If the information in the form has changed during your exchange, you are obligated to inform your International Coordinator at INN University about the changes.
- NB! Be aware that INN University can only provide information about your situation abroad to your contact person, as informed in the online Declaration of Personal Information, if a crisis should occur. Make sure to provide the contact information to the person you wish for us to reach out to in case of a crisis. NB!
- Before departure, students need to locate the nearest foreign service mission (e.g. embassy/consulate) in regard to their destination.
- If an emergency happens, the student needs to contact the nearest foreign service mission and call the INN University’s emergency number: +47 04315.
The International Coordinator’s responsibility
The International Coordinator needs to have an overview of where INN University students are located abroad and are responsible for following up students in their faculty/campus during the student’s stay abroad.
If the International Coordinator at the faculty/campus becomes aware of a situation abroad that could potentially involve a crisis with the involved students, the Crisis Group and the head of the International Office must be contacted.
The Head of the International Office’s responsibility
- If the International Coordinator becomes aware of a situation abroad that could potentially involve a crisis with the involved students, the head of the International Office must be contacted.
- Join the Crisis Group during crises abroad.
The Crisis Group’s responsibility
- Ensure that the following tasks are taken care of in consultation with the relevant department/faculty;
- Obtain all registered information about students in the relevant area from an International Advisor and assess the situation.
- Contact the relevant foreign service mission at the destination for information and assistance.
- Contact the affected/involved students to guide what they should do, and plan what to do if the situation changes.
- It is the Police’s responsibility to contact the relatives of the students.
- Clarify the consequences for other students in the area, and decide if it is necessary to conduct any action for them.
- Decide the seriousness of the situation, and if evacuation of the relevant students is necessary. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be contacted during this process.
- Determine INN University’s official response to the incident.
