Student insurance
The National Union of Students in Norway (NSO) has developed a collective student insurance policy in collaboration with Bafo Forsikringsmegling. They have negotiated a very favourable offer by virtue of representing 200,000 students. The insurance policies are adapted to students and their financial situation.
You can read more about the offer at NSO Studentforsikring
In the event of accidents
Students who are exposed to injury or accident during activities that take place at teaching locations or during teaching hours receive occupational injury insurance coverage from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration.
The relevant provisions can be found in circulars in Section 13-10 of the National Insurance Act concerning pupils, students etc.
If a student injures themselves outside the teaching location and/or outside of teaching hours, their own private insurance policy applies.
Insurance for foreign students
Foreign students are not automatically entitled to benefits from the National Insurance Scheme since they must have been in Norway for a certain amount of time before they become a member of the National Insurance Scheme. Foreign students must contact their local NAV office for more information.
