Amberscript

Amberscript is an online tool for converting speech to text. It is commonly used for transcribing interview material or subtitling video recordings.

Go to Amberscript

The tool supports Norwegian, English, French, German, and other common languages. It features a built-in editor where users can upload their audio or video files, have them automatically transcribed, and then play back and manually correct the text afterward. It can also distinguish between multiple speakers. Supported formats include: MP3, MP4, AAC, M4A, M4V, MOV, WMA, OPUS, FLAC, MPG, and WAV (maximum 6GB per file).

While Amberscript can save time, manual editing is expected, as the quality of the auto-transcribed text can vary. For optimal results, ensure that the uploaded audio file has the best possible sound quality, which leads to better automatic translation. When recording interviews or videos, it is recommended to test in advance with different microphone types and placements, and to assess the risk of background noise, etc.

Amberscript cannot be used in TSD (Services for Sensitive Data). For auto-transcription in TSD, contact IT Research Support: it-forskningsstotte@inn.no.
