E-books

The library provides access to thousands of e-books from different suppliers. Below you will find more information on how to access, download and print e-books.

How do I find e-books?

E-books available at INN University can be found by searching in Oria, followed by choosing «E-books» as «Resource Type». You may also search and browse for subjects via individual databases. Further information on this can be found at the bottom of this web-page. As there are few Norwegian e-books available, using English terms when searching is advised.

How do I read e-books?

You can read e-books directly in your browser. Some e-books are also available for download to PC/Mac or other mobile units for offline reading. Our recommendation is to read e-books directly in your browser, as you will have no need to install external software necessary for offline reading. Read more about your options for downloading e-books from individual suppliers further down on this web-page.

Set up your own account to utilize e-books to the fullest

When using e-books it is recommended that you set up your own user account. This is free of charge, and allows you to:

  • Highlight text
  • Make notations. These are stored in the book, and will be reactivated if/when you borrow the book repeatedly. Also, your notations can easily be exported to a word-processor (e.g Word).
  • Create your own virtual book-shelf.

Can I download e-books?

Whether e-books can be downloaded or not, and to what extent the content can be downloaded, will vary from one supplier to the other. Some will allow chapter download, some will allow download of the entire book. Certain suppliers require that you install software such as Adobe Digital Edition to read e-books. Read more about download options from various suppliers further down on this web-page.

How many simultaneous users can read an e-book?

Some e-books can be read by multiple users simultaneously, but for most of our subscribed e-books single user access is what is available. If a single user book is in use/on loan, you must try to access it at a later point in time.

Can I read e-books off-campus?

To gain access off-campus, just use the link(s) from Oria, or the link(s) from individual suppliers found in the databases listed below. Log on with your Feide-ID. Learn more about off-campus access to electronic resources by following the link directly below.
