Delay in the processing of the university accreditation application

NOKUT has announced that it will take longer than expected to process the institutional application for accreditation as a university.

The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) has notified the institution that more time than normal is needed to process the application. The explanation provided is that in 2022 and 2023 NOKUT has received more applications than the available case managers at NOKUT are able to process.

"We believe that we have submitted a good university accreditation application and view it as unfortunate that the proceedings are taking so long. We have met with NOKUT representatives about the postponement, which they clearly communicate is due to a lack of resources on NOKUT's part and not due to our application," says INN University Rector Peer Jacob Svenkerud.

NOKUT has written that it will carry out an administrative review of the application in June 2023. An expert committee and professional groups will then be set up and review and assess the application. These will be given access to the application in the autumn.

NOKUT will arrange a so-called institutional visit to INN University in March next year, so that the application can be formally addressed by NOKUT's board in October 2024. INN University submitted its application for accreditation as a university on 12 December 2022.
