Holst Jensen is currently the dean of the Faculty of Audiovisual Media and Creative Technologies (AMEK) that from 1 August is merging with The Norwegian Film School (DNF), also a faculty at INN University.

– Leif Holst Jensen has a long experience from both the education sector and the film and television industry. He has been an engaged faculty leader in his current position, and we feel confident that he will also manage his new role well, Chairman Maren Kyllingstad says.

The current dean of The Norwegian Film School, Eli Bø, is short-listed as number two for the position, and she has received an offer to continue in the role as leader of The Film School, which is one of three schools in the new faculty.

– There are two highly qualified candidates who were short-listed after an overall assessment of academic qualifications, experience and personal attributes. The board followed the majority opinion of the appointed case committee, Kyllingstad says.

Robust and strong academic communities

In December last year, the university board decided that the two faculties were to become one. The board meant that a fusion was the right move to follow the development and build robust and strong academic communities for the future.

In a board meeting on Tuesday, it was decided that Leif Holst Jensen would be appointed as the new dean.

– Appointing the new dean is an important milestone. Leif Holst Jensen will play a central role in the development and establishment of the new faculty, and he will hold both the academic and administrative responsibility for all faculty engagement in the time to come. As an internal applicant, he can start the tasks as soon as the formalities are in order, Rector Peer Jacob Svenkerud says.

Over 600 students

The new faculty will have about 660 students and 130 staff members, and it offers education in, for example, film, TV production, animation and game technology.

In the autumn of 2024, the faculty will also launch a new bachelor’s degree in artificial intelligence.

The Norwegian Film School, TV School and Game School are continued as units in the new faculty with each of their own school leader.
