Project workshop

The participants in the FAITHED project collect a large amount of data. But how will they be able to analyze it all?

So far: 45 field observations of faith education in Catholic parishes and Muslim communities. 79 interviews with children, youth, parents and teachers in these communities, as well as with school leaders and Religious Education teachers in public schools. Still, data collection for the research project Non-formal faith education, the public school, and religious minorities in Norway (FAITHED) is far from completed. We are still visiting communities and schools in urban as well as in different rural settings. We have also developed student tasks to be completed by RE classes in primary and lower secondary schools in the same areas.

At the same time we prepare the next project phase: Analyzing an interesting, comprehensive and diverse data material. NVivo, an application for analysis of qualitative data, is an important common tool for this task. During February and March, the project participants take part in an online workshop in order to develop shared tools and strategies for data analysis. Marta Bivand Erdal, a human geographer at PRIO with long experience in data analysis using NVivo, is in charge of the workshop. The rest of us are eagerly contributing.
