Qur'an teachers' pedagogical approaches

In a Norwegian context, what are the pedagogical approaches of teachers of the Qur'an in Islamic supplementary education?

Authors Markeng and Berglund with article abstract

As part of FAITHED researcher Synnøve Markeng's PhD project, she has published the article "In the Child’s Best Interest: Analyzing Pedagogical Approaches among Teachers of the Qur’an in Norway" together with Jenny Berglund, professor at Stockholm University and Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, and member of the FAITHED Advisory Board. The article is open access in the journal Religion & Education and is available for free download here.

In the article, Markeng and Berglund analyze and compare the pedagogical approaches of two experienced teachers of the Qur'an, belonging to two different generations, in light of their life stories, their experiences with Norwegian society, and the theoretical concepts 'ritualization of religious scripture' (Watts)  and 'faith literacy' (Rosowsky).
