How to submit an application for your exchange

Here you can find detailed information on how to apply and the documents needed.

Please be aware of the following:

  • Prepare the needed documents before you apply. Remember to choose courses/programmes through the Learning Agreement (LA)/Online Learning Agreement (OLA). The course offers differ from each campus.
  • Apply through the online application form. We do not accept applications by e-mail. The link to the online application forms can be found on the webpage for the application process (the previous webpage).

Document requirements for Erasmus+/EEA/SEMP students

INN University’s Erasmus code (all campuses): N ELVERUM02

Erasmus+ and students on EEA grants need to submit the following documents in the online application form:

  • Course application document - must be signed by yourself and your home institution*. Choose among one of the three options below:
    1. INN University's Erasmus+ Learning Agreement (LA) to be submitted in the application form.
    2. Learning Agreement from the home institution (LA) to be submitted in the application form.
    3. Online Learning Agreement (OLA) to be submitted on the digital platform used by your home institution.
  • Official transcript of records from your home institution (in English), containing passed courses with grades and credit points (ECTS).
  • Copy of your health insurance in English, e.g., the EHIC card.
  • Copy of passport/ID card (valid for six months beyond the planned stay).
  • Picture (optional).

*INN University does not sign any Learning Agreements nor Online Learning Agreements before the application deadline. For the application, the LA/OLA must be signed by the student and their home institution.

English language proficiency

Students on Erasmus+/EEA/SEMP/similar grants are not required to submit proof of language proficiency.

Document requirements for students from non-EU/EEA partner institutions

Exchange students from our non-EU/EEA partners need to submit the following documents in the online application:

  • Course application document - the Learning Agreement - Bilateral Agreements. To be submitted with the application.
    • You must apply with a minimum of 30 ECTS per semester. The document must be signed by yourself and your home institution*.
  • Official transcript of records from your home institution (in English) containing passed courses with grades and credit points.
  • Proof of English language proficiency.
  • Copy of passport (valid for six months beyond the planned stay).
  • Copy of your health insurance in English.
  • Picture (optional).

*INN University does not sign any Learning Agreements before the application deadline.

English language proficiency

Students from our non-EU/EEA partners are required to submit proof of language proficiency. Please see the drop-down list at the bottom of this page.

Important information

Please notice that you must deposit the requested amount into INN University's deposit account after being granted admission to apply for a study permit. You will receive a financial statement from INN University after depositing the funds. Detailed information can be found on our webpage for study permits. Bilateral students on an Erasmus+/EEA scholarship are exempted from depositing money.

How to apply for courses

Select courses and submit the Learning Agreement/Online Learning Agreement (OLA) with your application. You will be notified if the agreement contains errors. Colliding courses are not accepted. Bachelor students are not eligible to apply for master's courses.

Erasmus+ students can use the OLA.

  • If the home institution uses this, choose the OLA option in the online application form.
  • When you create your OLA, look up our institution with either the Erasmus code “N ELVERUM02”, or our Norwegian name “Høgskolen I Innlandet”.
  • Set the "Responsible person at INN University" as the international coordinator for your campus/faculty. 
  • If you cannot submit the OLA within the application deadline, please inform us by e-mail.

You are admitted to a course when your agreement is signed by your home institution and by INN University. However, agreements are only signed by INN University when a student has gained admission. 

Physical/other disabilities

Students with physical or other disabilities that affect their studies and everyday lives must inform us about their situation in the application form.

Proof of English language proficiency

Native English-speaking students are exempt from submitting proof of English language proficiency. 

Erasmus+/SEMP/EEA/Norway grant students - not required

Erasmus+ & EEA/Norway grant students applying for INN University do not need to prove their English language proficiency.

We expect nominated students to have a good command of English with a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Exchange students from our non-EU/EEA partners & free movers - required

All exchange students must provide formal documentary evidence of English Language Proficiency per the requirements below (unless stated otherwise in the institutional agreement). 

The following tests and test scores for attending English-taught courses at the bachelor level are accepted by INN University:

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language, with a minimum score of 60 (internet-based).
  • IELTS - International English Language Testing Service, with a minimum score of 5.0.
  • Pearson PTE Academic with an overall score of a minimum of 51.

The following tests and test scores for attending English-taught courses at the master level are accepted by INN University:

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language, with a minimum score of 90 (internet-based).
  • IELTS - International English Language Testing Service, with a minimum score of 6.5.
  • Pearson PTE Academic with an overall score of a minimum of 62.
