Fikru Kefyalew Alemayehu is an associate professor of Economics at the Inland Norway School of Business and Social Sciences, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. He teaches microeconomics II and Quantitative Methods and leads the Bachelor's program in Economics and Business Administration. His research focuses on production economics and Industrial Organizations. He has published in high-impact journals like Tourism Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Resource Policy. He supervises two PhD projects: "The nexus between sustainability and profitability of firms" and "How does co-creation impact innovation and firm performance in the service sector?" In collaboration with the Eastern Norway Research Institute, Alemayehu received a grant from the Norwegian Ministry of Industry and Fisheries for a consulting report on gender equality and diversity in the maritime industry.

Alemayehu earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Stavanger, Norway, in 2020. He was a visiting research scholar at the State University of New York for half a year during this period. He holds double master's degrees: MSc in Development and Natural Resource Economics (2009) from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and MPhil in Health Economics Policy and Management (2012) from the University of Oslo. He took several PhD-level courses from various European universities. Alemayehu also completed a one-year training in university-level pedagogy and didactics, as well as a six-month training on the Pedagogy of Supervising PhD students in 2022.

Before earning his Ph.D., he worked as a research assistant for short-term engagements at the University of Oslo, Haraldplass Diakonal, and Akershus Hospitals in Norway. He also served as a graduate assistant at Mekelle and Arba Minch Universities in Ethiopia from 2006 to 2008.
