Kort om

Current research project:

"Next stop: Svalbard - hypermobility and youth's mental health in Longyearbyen"

Ragnhild Bjørnsen is an associate professor in childhood studies at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences. Her work centers around children living in hypermobility ("Third Culture Kids"). Through a lens of Psychological Anthropology, she unravels interrelationships of childhood, life-course, and dominant narratives within parents' employer organisations. Her case studies include the Norwegian Foreign Service and the transient Norwegian settlement on the arctic archipelago of Svalbard. These studies also reveal how children's rights become constrained by geo-political interests. Ragnhild applies narrative methodology, combining autobiography with participant observation and creative workshops.
