The course will be organised as 6 half-day seminars with lectures, discussions and presentations by the participants. The whole course will be offered online. There is no registration fee. 

Content

Through this course you will explore and critically discuss contemporary perspectives and debates within the research field of multicultural pedagogy. Moreover, you will be introduced to current theoretical perspectives on and methodological approaches to cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity within kindergarten, school, and teacher education. Finally, you will consider different perspectives on the relationship between theory to practice in multicultural pedagogy. This course will give you an updated overview of the forefront of research in multicultural pedagogy, award you with knowledge about professional ethical issues in the field and prepare you to make use of these insights in your own research.

Participation

This is a course at the PhD level, which means that it is primarily intended for those who are admitted to a PhD-programme. PhD candidates from programmes other than PROFF may participate as single course (“enkeltemne”) students and earn ECTS credits as detailed above. 

In the event that there are more applicants than spaces, candidates will be prioritized as follows:

  1. PhD candidates at PROFF
  2. Other PhD candidates at INN University
  3. PhD candidates from other institutions

Elective courses are offered on the condition that an adequate number of students have enrolled for the course. Where this is not possible, PROFF PhD candidates may be allowed to take an independent study reading course. Independent study reading courses are subject to the same syllabus and documentation requirements as other elective courses.
