Short description

Biography

Carlos Martín joined Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in November 2021 as a Professor of Biomass and bioresources. He is also a Visiting Professor at Umeå University (Sweden) and a researcher within Bio4Energy strategic research environment. He is an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow.

Carlos' research interests are biomass and bioresources utilization, wood chemistry, biofuels, biorefineries, and lignocellulose pretreatment. He has a MSc degree in Wood chemical technology from the Leningrad Forest Technical Academy (USSR) and a PhD degree in Technical sciences from the University of Matanzas (Cuba) in a sandwich model with Lund University (Sweden). He did postdoctoral stays at Risø DTU National Laboratory (Denmark) and Karlstad University (Sweden). He has also worked at Thünen Institute of Wood Research (Germany).

- Production of biopolymers from quinoa residues using halotolerant bacterial isolates from the Bolivian Altiplano, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
