Grace Doris Paterson

Short description

I am a philosopher of Language, Social Ontology, and Action. I work on conceptual, metaphysical, and ethical dimensions of speech acts, especially those involving collective or institutional actors, or which occur under non-ideal circumstances. I received my PhD from Stanford University in 2018 under the supervision of Ken Taylor, after which I was a postdoctoral researcher in Vienna, Austria. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at INN where I am part of the project "Perceiving Voice and Speaker" headed by Anna Drożdżowicz. As part of this project I will be developing an account of (good) listening that dovetails with speech act theory.
