Short description

Dr. Xiang Ying Mei holds a doctorate in tourism from The University of Queensland in Australia (UQ). In her dissertation, she wrote about innovation and the role of the government as an facilitator of innovation in tourism in Norway. In addition to working as a lecturer and research assistant at UQ, in parallel with her PhD work, she has practical experiences in Norway from Scandic Hotel and Thon Hotel and entreprenurial experiences from running and managing a family-run eatery. She has taught and coordinated several courses at both the bachelor and master's level in tourism, strategy and marketing, in Norway and Australia.

She has published several scientific articles in internationally renowned journals. Her research interests include tourism management, tourism education, food tourism and food routes, innovation, regional development, co-creation and user participation, consumer behavior, marketing, branding, service management and learning processes in higher education.
