People who have been exposed to traumatic events may struggle with severe stress reactions and lingering effects for a long time afterward, with the risk of disability and mental health issues.

There is a lack of research on the effectiveness of comprehensive and holistic integrated treatment and on which elements of the treatment have the greatest impact

What we research

An overarching goal for the trauma research group is, therefore, to study the effect of providing a comprehensive offer to people experiencing crises over time on their quality of life and their ability to maintain a more 'normal' life after treatment

More about the research group

One of the areas that the group is particularly focused on is the significance of daily joys and concerns (hassles and uplifts) and how this is influenced by treatment and over time. Another area is changes in the experience of coping and meaning before and after treatment. The group is also concerned with changes in somatic health and nutrition related to traumatic experiences.

The trauma research group has a close collaboration with Friskstiftelsen, which is a treatment facility for people who have experienced serious traumatic events.

All patients undergo a battery of tests at the beginning, during, and after their stay. In addition, we collaborate with SMISO center in Innlandet.
