Short description

Kåre Letrud has a Dr. Philos. in philosophy from the University of Bergen. In his doctoral thesis he sought to explicate a scientific myth concept, and to explore how such myths spread in the literature and persist despite being repeatedly discredited.

His main research interests are philosophy of science and metaresearch, and he uses philosophical analysis as well as empirical methods. He is currently working on the following projects:

1) Do the recorded deliberations in innovation studies correspond to the image of the scientific discourse as a transparent pro aut contra debate? More specifically, the project examines whether contra arguments raised against established theories are adequately assessed and discussed in the literature.

2) What use will a pseudoscience definition serve?

3) By what criteria should we assess the quality of scientific journals?

Letrud is open for collaborations in various areas of metaresearch, particularly innovations to improve aspects of academic publishing.
