ESIRA

ESIRA stands for ‘Enhancing Social Inclusion in Rural Areas’. The project focuses on people in vulnerable situations and the third sector economy, which includes social purposes, community engagement, and charity.

Project goal

ESIRA aims to support innovation and fundamental community building in rural areas across Europe.

About the project

ESIRA assists a local innovation group in the Kongsvinger region, which aims to improve the inclusion of people with disabilities. The group will develop and launch five initiatives during the project. The goal is for these to contribute to lasting changes. Researchers will monitor the process and make policy development recommendations. In addition, they will study whether existing systems and services are designed to offer innovation specifically to rural communities.

ESIRA consists of 15 partners from eight countries; Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Norway, and France. The partners are universities, research institutes, networks, and regional and local organizations.

In Norway, Innlandet County Council is our partner for the implementation of the project.

ESIRA has a total budget of 4.5 million euros (52 million kroner), of which approximately 7 million is allocated to Norway.
